New role for Hans Sigl (55). The “Der Bergdoktor” star will host this year’s Romy Awards ceremony. The newspaper “Kurier” announced that Sigl will be hosting Austria’s most important film and television awards show, which the paper has been organizing since 1990. Actress Mirjam Weichselbraun (43) will co-host the gala alongside Hans Sigl. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on November 28, 2025.

Following a brief hiatus last year, 2025 will see the return of a glamorous gala event. For the first time, the awards named after Romy Schneider (1938-1982) will not be presented in Vienna. This year’s venue will be Kitzbühel. The Romy organizers are collaborating with the Kitzbühel Film Festival, which takes place in the prestigious Tyrolean ski resort from November 25 to November 30. This cooperation marks another first for the Romy Awards.

Actor, Comedian, and Host: Multi-talented Hans Sigl

The Romy Awards won’t be Hans Sigl’s first hosting job. The trained actor has been co-hosting the music show “Starnacht am Wörthersee” alongside Barbara Schöneberger (51) since 2022. The part-time comedian has also been a guest host on “Kölner Treff” and “ZDF-Fernsehgarten”. On New Year’s Eve 2022/23 and 2023/24, he rang in the new year on Das Erste alongside Swiss host Francine Jordi (47).

Hans Sigl is no stranger to the Romy Awards. The native of Styria has already won the award four times as the most popular series actor.
